If you are looking for flat lay inspo for your wedding or elopement, then look no further! As a wedding photographer I have seen many different types of flat lays from classy & chic, to contemporary & vibrant. Your flat lay is such a fun detail shot because it really sets the tone for your wedding gallery. Capturing every detail that you have carefully selected to be part of your day is super important to me as a photographer, because it really does help to tell your unique special!

Include whatever stationary you can here! Florals

Whether you are using real, dried, or fake flowers, have your florist set aside a few accent pieces for your photographer to include in your flat lay! Your bouquet/boutonniere can also be used here, but it is always nice to have a few organic pieces that are easier to style than a big bulky bouquet. You will thank me later for this one!!

Checklist:

  • Bouquet
  • Boutonniere
  • Scrap Pieces From Your Florist

Pro Tips

  • Have all of your items organized and put together before the day of. Other than your rings and florals, everything should be able to be put in a bag or shoebox prior to the wedding day. Your photographer will thank you for not having to search last minute for all of these details, and it will give you one less thing to stress about on the day of as well!
  • Ask your photographer what all you should include! I bring several small items with me to every wedding such as a ring box, some dried florals, some thread, and gauze. If you don’t have a fancy ring box you may not have to buy one if your photographer already has one!
  • Don’t be afraid to get creative with it! Bring that random family heirloom or keepsake from your first date if you want - I promise your photographer will find a way to make it work!
  • Look on Pinterest for inspiration! (Duh, I know.) I recommend searching your theme (boho, classic, eclectic, etc.) wedding/elopement flat lay. Chances are you will find some more items that make for really cool flat lay that isn’t even included in this list!
  • Lastly, do not feel like you have to include everything! This list is simply to help you find inspiration, and if you are a simple bride or groom and want a very minimalist flat lay then do just that!
